Rebecca Korth has been expressing herself through art for as long as she can remember. By the time she reached high school she took as many art classes as possible. Her college years were spent studying a little bit of everything, but painting always stayed with her. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she decided to travel to Oregon to study oils with her Aunt, Sandee Burman. Rebecca moved back to Wisconsin in 2005 and has been continually learning new techniques and theories ever since.
Rebecca’s mother was ill for quite some time with a rare lung condition that kept her in bed for most of the day. Her father filled their backyard with beautiful flowers and a long row of bird feeders right outside her mother’s window. Rebecca has many fond memories of sitting with her, chatting and watching the birds at play. After her mother passed she began painting still life almost exclusively and found herself adding a bird into every painting. It is Rebecca’s way of honoring her mother through art and keeping her memory alive.
